Installation

Hifod comes pre-built, so there is no separate production build process required after downloading the package.

On supported cPanel hosting, the general process is:

Hifod is a Node.js application — it is not a PHP script.

You need hosting that supports Node.js.

Minimum Requirements

Node.js: 18 or newer

Recommended: Node.js 20

Database: MySQL 5.7+ or MariaDB 10.3+

Hifod uses MySQL for live production websites.

A JSON-file mode is also included for testing and trying out the platform without setting up a database.

Important: Hifod will not run on PHP-only hosting that does not provide Node.js support.

The Hifod interface is currently available in English.

An optional Translate plugin can translate member posts, but it does not translate the Hifod interface itself.

The Language Release

The whole member side of the site can now be read in any language, and your clients can add their own without touching a line of code. Plus a long list of fixes to switches that looked like they worked and didn't.

MODULE AND PLUGIN SWITCHES

Fixed: Jobs, Offers, Blog and Premium could not be switched off at all. Jobs and Offers even refused work on the server while nothing anywhere could set the switch.

MEMBERSHIPS

Fixed: The three free lines (post/comment/share, follow anyone, message followers) vanished from the Free card the moment anything else was ticked. They are the floor, not a perk.

ANONYMOUS POSTS

➛ Added: "Anonymous" toggle in the composer, beside who can see the post. Only shown when the admin switches it on

SOUND

Fixed: The loud music. A story opened with sound on; the browser refused, so the code put a listener on the whole page to unmute at the next tap — so the tap that closed a story, or landed anywhere at all, played music at full volume.

Fixed: A story's track kept its source after closing, so a later check could start it again with nothing on screen.

Fixed: Scrolling past a post whose music you started left it playing. The auto-pause only ever watched video, not audio.

Fixed: Leaving reels, or a background tab, left clips running.

Note: Reels and stories still play with sound. You opened them to watch. Only sound where nobody is looking is gone.

STORIES

➛ Added: Stories run on to the next person by themselves

v1.11.4 — What's New (21/09/2026)

➛ Voice and video calling in chat — now fully working. Ring, answer, mute, turn the camera on or off, and hang up, with a live call timer.

Every call is written into the conversation afterwards so both people see "Call ended — 2:14", "Missed call" or "Call declined".

Calls need only an Agora App ID and the Chat → Calls switch; no separate licence.

➛ Live stream page rebuilt: a large video panel beside the hero that plays the stream muted with a "visit live stream" overlay,

and shows a friendly animated message when nobody is broadcasting instead of an empty card.

➛ Follower widgets added to the live page — signed-in visitors now see who they follow and who follows them while they browse streams.

➛ Admins can now remove anything while browsing the site: posts, reels, stories, groups, pages, marketplace listings, live streams and fundraisers

all without opening the admin panel. Every removal asks first, and the button never shows on your own content.

➛ Stories can finally be moderated. Previously an admin had to wait the full 24 hours for a bad story to expire; now it can be taken down while it is on screen.

➛ Camera or gallery when posting: tapping Photo/Video on a story now offers Camera and Gallery as two clear buttons,

and the camera really opens the camera. Reels offer Choose a video or Record a video. Both appear only on phones.

➛ Profile page redesigned, desktop and mobile: taller cover with a soft gradient, a ring around the profile picture,

tap the photo to see it full size, and Edit cover moved to the top corner so it is never hidden while a cover is uploading.

➛ Profile buttons tidied: one main action button with the rest outlined, followers and following in a single clean strip,

and tabs shown as an underline instead of a second row of pills.

➛ Profile on phones: buttons now wrap inside the card instead of running off the screen edge, posts run edge to edge,

and the bio is hidden (it already appears under the About tab) so the tabs sit higher up.

➛ Names with three parts now display correctly — "ahmet Al Mamun" no longer runs together as "ahmet AlMamun".

➛ Marketplace on phones has a proper top bar: menu on the left, search in the middle, Add listing on the right,

with the site header hidden behind it in all three themes.

➛ Marketplace listing cards cleaned up: title on one line, price shown over the photo with its own background,

and Edit / Mark as sold removed from browsing — they now appear only under My Listings.

➛ Prices no longer show pennies anywhere they are being read rather than paid. £15,000.01 now reads £15,000 on cards,

the listing page, the sidebar and the widget.

➛ Marketplace listing page fixed: the four information boxes (Location, Listed, Views, Buyer cover) no longer hang outside the card,

and the right-hand column scrolls with the page instead of inside its own frame — Latest sold stays visible.

➛ Viztube has its own header now. The site header is gone from Viztube, replaced with a purpose-built bar carrying the mark,

a full-width search box and upload buttons that are the right size.

➛ Viztube video cards now reach both edges of the screen on a phone, with the author and "3 days ago" on a single line.

➛ Viztube shelves redesigned: each section has an icon, a title, a count, a rule across the row and a "See all" link,

showing 20 videos with a Load more button, and a button to reveal hidden reels in the strip.

➛ Reels: embed code moved into the share sheet where it belongs, and the comment box now stays above the keyboard on a phone instead of being covered by it.

➛ Chat: press Enter to send, everywhere on the site — comments, replies, messages, story replies, live chat and support tickets.

When something blocks a message from sending, the box now says why instead of doing nothing.

➛Chat: tap any photo in a message to open it full size.

➛ Chat: the away message now actually saves, and the unread badge on the phone bottom bar updates within seconds without refreshing the page.

➛ Post action row tightened on desktop: like, comment, save, repost and share sit together on the left, with who liked it and the view count paired at the right

and all three themes now use exactly the same sizes, spacing and count badges.

➛ Theme switcher fixed: choosing a theme now shows the one you are actually using, and your choice is applied from the

first moment the page loads instead of flashing the site's theme first. (Anyone who previously chose the built-in theme should select it once more after updating.)

➛ Story music: the Done button no longer sits on top of the remove button, so removing a track no longer throws the whole story away by mistake.

➛ New update checker: every build now carries a fingerprint, and Admin → Update warns you if an upload did not fully replace the old files

so "I updated but nothing changed" can be checked in one click.
